CWSF Science Fair Team Heading to Lethbridge.The 52nd Canada-Wide Science Fair (CWSF) will be held in Lethbridge, Alberta and this district will be well represented once again. The 2013 Canada-Wide Science Fair will feature the top 400 science projects by students from grades seven through twelve selected at more than 100 regional fairs across the country. The event will include project judging, social and cultural activities, tours to regional science and research facilities, along with visits to featured Southern Alberta's tourism destinations. Approximately 1,100 students, chaperones, judges, sponsors and dignitaries will descend upon the city for this week-long event. The week-long event will be located at the University of Lethbridge from May 11- 18, 2013.

On April 3, 2013 Sci-Tech Encounters hosted its annual Science and Inventors' Fair at the Seaforth Community Centre.  Over 120 students from 18 schools across the district participated in the event showcasing their collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving.

At the end of a busy day with the judges, the Canada Wide Science Fair Team was named and awards presented. Named to the District Canada Wide Science Fair Team and heading for Lethbridge in May are:

Ethan Milne, grade 9 at Goderich District Collegiate Institute for his project "HeaLit";
Gareth Marks, grade 8 at Stratford Central for his project "Is WiFi safe in schools?";
Mitchell Casey and Chase Windsor, grade 8 at Stratford Central for their project "The A Protector"; and
Evan Krebs, grade 8 at St. Boniface for his project "Ethanol - The Next Generation".
