Hats off for Habitat
The Habitat for Humanity Gala Art Auction was held recently in Stratford. This year's family has a child who attends Kindergarten at Avon Public School.(Mrs. Tessmer and Mrs. Taylor's class). The class decided to create and enter an auction item on behalf of Bianca and their art work sold at the Auction for $300.00! So everyone at the school thought that was pretty exciting!
Earlier that day at Avon held a Spirit Assembly with the theme "Hats off for Habitat". All Avon students were invited to wear a crazy hat for the day. Some were pretty funny, some were VERY creative, and students were asked to contribute a loonie or toonie for the cause. At the Spirit Assembly each of the 12 cross-grade teams worked cooperatively to create a crazy hat (out of paper, stickers, markers, found materials), which were displayed in the foyer. It was a lot of fun and the school raised an additional $320 for Habitat.
