Baseball Academy Ready to Throw Out the First Pitch

iCASE Baseball Academy Ready to Throw Out the First PitchIn just over a month, student athletes from across Canada and the World will converge on Stratford Northwestern Secondary School as part of the iCASE Baseball Academy. The International Canadian Academy of Sports Excellence, iCASE, and the Avon Maitland District School Board announced last fall a partnership and launch of the iCASE Baseball Academy at Stratford Northwestern for September 2013.

iCASE is an opportunity for baseball players in their junior and senior years of high school to develop and enhance their baseball skills in an academic environment, led by a staff of world-renowned baseball coaches. Baseball training is built into the daily curriculum in order to allow student-athletes to partake in whatever other extra-curricular desires they may have after school, or to simply enjoy time with their friends. Both on the field and in the classroom, the program delivered to each iCASE student-athlete will be groomed to their individual stage of development.

This program is the first of its kind in Canada that combines a secondary education with intensive baseball training. The iCASE Baseball Academy will be the perfect way to maximize the student-athlete’s enjoyment of high school while reaching his/her potential in baseball.

Tom Valcke launched the International Canadian Academy of Sports Excellence in 2012. Tom is known throughout the world for his baseball knowledge and coaching ability. Tom has worked with organizations such as Major League Baseball, the Olympics, and the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame.

Field manager & GM Tom Valcke leads the iCASE team. Tom’s baseball career spans more than 25 years and includes running Baseball Canada and coaching Team Canada. He established MLB’s Central Scouting Bureau in Canada and is the former CEO of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame. He has taught baseball in 17 countries around the world.

He has co-authored three baseball coaching manuals, is a Master Course Conductor with the National Coaching Certification program, and serves on Baseball Canada’s Long- term Athlete Development Committee. He was the IBAF Technical Commissioner at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games as well as other national and international championships.

In just over a month student athletes from across Canada and around the world will come together in Stratford as the iCASE Baseball Academy takes to the field and to the classrooms of Stratford Northwestern.  Part of the priogram includes training at the new modern iCASE indoor training facility on Erie Street at the back of the Cavalier Centre.

The Avon Maitland Board and iCASE are now trying to place the last few student athletes with local families, especially those living in the Stratford Northwestern area and with students who attend Northwestern. This includes students from other part of Canada as well as Mexico and Venezuela. These students will be staying in Stratford for the entire school year. Qualifying host families will be compensated.  This is your chance to be a part of history in Stratford, in Ontario and in Canada and help us develop baseball's future stars.
