Confessions of a Depressed Comic Breel Coming to LDSS
On Friday, February 21, 2014 Listowel District Secondary School will welcome Kevin Breel to an evening event that focuses on Mental Health. Breel is a 20 year old writer, stand up comic and activist for mental health. As a writer, he’s contributed to The Huffington Post and CNN. As a stand up comic, he’s become one of the youngest performing acts in Canadian history.
As a mental health advocate, he’s been seen on media outlets all around the world- including CBC, CTV, MTV and The TODAY Show on NBC. His TEDx talk titled “Confessions of a Depressed Comic” went instantly viral online- with more than half a million views in less than 30 days.
The evening begins at 7:30 pm and following Breel, Yolanda Cameron of Walkerton will take the stage. After losing her son to suicide in 2011, she has worked tirelessly to inform youth that it is okay to feel depressed and talk about it. The evening will end with water cooler conversations where people can mingle with local professionals, LDSS students and parents who are willing to share their stories.
