Back to School
As we enter the last few weeks of summer, students and parents across our school district are gearing up for another exciting school year.
It may be routine at this point, but there are always steps you can take to ensure the transition from summer vacation to the first day of school is a positive one.
Some tips to consider
- Start a back to school bedtime and morning routine. A good sleep is the first start to a good day!
- A healthy and nutritious lunch is important but please remember we are a nut free zone.
- Make a list and check it twice! School supplies are important so you want to make sure your child is prepared for their first day.
- Talk to your child about their day. The first day of school can be challenging for new students, or students entering grade 9. Be their guardian, their role model, and their friend.
It’s no secret that we live in an area prone to heavy snowfall. Many of our students rely on buses to get them to and from school, but inclement weather can prevent buses from running safely. Please be sure to check Huron Perth Transportation Services for updates and changes to bus routes. Be sure to follow them on Facebook and Twitter as well.
Our Schools and Registration page has information for new families to the area, or for students who are changing schools. Be sure to read this page if you have any questions.
We advise that you check with your school regarding orientation details and it varies from school to school.
It’s a good idea to follow your school on social media for news and updates. For board wide updates, news, and other developments, you can follow the Avon Maitland District School Board on Facebook and Twitter.
