AMDSB is not affected by the current CUPE work to rule/strike action as none of our unionized employees are members of CUPE. See details below.
Schools boards and unions share a commitment to public education, creating positive learning environments, and maintaining positive labour relations. The collective bargaining process for public education is a two-tier bargaining process, involving both the provincial level (central bargaining) and local level (local bargaining). Learn more about the two-tier bargaining process.
Unionized employees of the Avon Maitland District School Board are represented by the following labour unions:
- Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO)
- Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF)
- Note: support staff are represented by a branch of this union
- Unifor (represents custodial and facilities services)
Updates on the central bargaining processes for these groups can be found here. We will continue to keep our families informed as more information becomes available.
