Student Senators

The job of student senators is an important one. The Board wants to hear what the students are saying and you are the one to tell them. Not only are you responsible for your secondary school, but also the surrounding elementary feeder schools. Their opinions and ideas are just as important and you must try to get them across as best as you can.

Now, being a student senator isn’t all work and no fun. There are amazing opportunities to attend provincial conferences and host regional symposiums. Your mileage is covered and your meals provided - that is, for the bi-weekly meetings you must attend! Being a student senator is a great way for senior students to further develop their business professionalism, confidence, and public speaking skills while still having fun, representing their school and all of its greatness.

As a student senator, your staff members will come to you with good news, students will ask you questions, and you can be a role-model for the younger ones. A day in the life of a student senator isn’t really a tough gig; just remember to listen effectively, speak respectfully, and make the best of each situation. If you would like to contact any of our student senators please email them at studentsenate@ed.amdsb.ca.
